Here’s everything we know about the characters of the Korean remake and their possible corresponding British counterparts! Note: This article is based on currently available information and speculation. The actual K-Drama characters might or might not have any direct resemblance with the characters of the original work.
1. Yum JungAh - Eo YongMi
Veteran actress Yum JungAh will be playing the leading role of Eo YongMi, which corresponds to the character Sam Cook in the original British drama “Cleaning Up”. Eo YongMi is a cleaner at Bested Investment Securities during the week and a housekeeper on the weekends. She is the sole breadwinner of her family, with two young daughters. Her debt-ridden life is miserable, to say the least, but she gets a life-changing opportunity when she overhears insider trading information.
2. Jeon SoMin - Ahn InKyung
One of the most versatile leading actresses in recent times, Jeon SoMin will play Ahn InKyung, YongMi’s friend and colleague who also serves as her voice of reason. She gets involved with insider trading through YongMi to fulfill her dream of owning a moving cafe but she is cautious not to get carried away. The corresponding character in the original show is Jess.
3. Kim JaeHwa - Meng SooJa
TV and movie star Kim JaeHwa will play Meng SooJa, a friendly yet deceptive character who is desperate for success in life. Her charm is more manipulative than charismatic. However, despite her dicey nature, she is an essential part of Eo YongMi’s plan. Meng SooJa’s corresponding character in the original British series is most likely Mina.
4. Lee MooSaeng - Lee YoungShin
Lee MooSaeng will play Lee YoungShin, a ladies’ man with undeniable appeal. He might seem like the ideal partner, especially with how attractive he is but he definitely has some secrets he is hiding. While Lee YoungShin appears to be an informant for a law firm, his real profession is a mystery. The corresponding character to Lee YoungShin in the original series is assumed to be Swanny.
5. Na InWoo - Doo Young
Na InWoo will play the naive PhD student Doo Young who rents out a room in Eo YongMi’s house. He is warm, sincere, and endearing, so much so that anyone who knows him, enthusiastically roots for him. Doo Young is extremely skilled at mechanical and electrical work, which becomes an asset to YongMi. If the K-Drama goes by the original storyline, he will have a special relationship with Ahn InKyung. Are you excited for “Cleaning Up”?
