There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Mariana is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Brazil and is a fan of YOUNITE, and particularly of EunSang. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? I’m Mariana, YOUNIZ from Brazil. I’m the owner of Lee EunSang Brazilian fanbase! How and when did you enter the fandom? I’ve been stanning EunSang since 2019. Because I stan the others BRANDNEW artists too, I was really looking forward to meeting the trainees who were announced in 2020. After that, it was announced that EunSang would be joining them in a new boy group, so I still support EunSang with his new family. What are the reasons why this rookie group is your favorite group? YOUNITE members are very special boys! They are very skilled and with great stage presence. They, above all, show all their love for the fans. They are boys conquering their dreams with the fans who have waited for them for so long. The members have an amazing relationship of partnership and friendship, which makes YOUNIZ feel like part of the family too. What do you think differentiates this rookie group from the others? YOUNITE has members who come from countless different experiences: “PRODUCE X 101”, “LOUD”, “High School Rapper”, a foreign member, a member who used to be part of a cover group. All these different experiences and paths formed YOUNITE, which is a dream come true for the members. For the readers who are completely new to the group and members, can you introduce them with your own words? EunHo: Our precious leader and fake maknae Steve: Foreign guy with a husky voice HyunSeung: Sweet main dancer EunSang: Leader and warm guy that always work hard smiling HyungSeok: Our always excited and tall nice guy WooNo: Our shy and cute babe Dey: Our skilled rapper producer KyungMun: Alpaca in charge of comedy SiOn: Our precious makenae who always smile YOUNITE: A family Who caught your attention at first and why? Did you know any members prior to their debut? Even though I’ve been by EunSang’s side since 2019, from the first moment that I saw HyunSeung I thinked how much handsome he is. Researching him and seeing his pre-debut dance covers, after this, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Do you have a bias yet? If yes, tell us why. EunSang will always be my bias, I love him more that I can explain and I’ve been his side for a long time! But I still look at HyunSeung too. He is also a special and skilled boy. Which song by them caught your attention at first and why? I’ve known EunSang and YOUNITE since pre-debut, before the songs were released. But I think that ‘EVERYBODY’ was a good 1st impression of them as a team, because them show us all particularly skills, rap, dance and vocal, working together. What do you particularly like in this debut title track? Do you have a favorite B-side? ‘1 of 9’ is a fun and warmly debut music video! You can see the members doing their best to get YOUNIZ attention and be choose. Spoiler alert, you can’t choose just one. Actually, I’ve known BRANDNEW MUSIC a long time… So I know the producers too… I was so excited to listen to the songs produced by BOOMBASTIC, OUOW and ON THE ROAD for YOUNITE. ‘I Got the Feeling’ and ‘Ring Ring Ring’ exceeded my expectations. ‘Ring Ring Ring’ is a lovely song with beautiful vocals! Like YOUNIZ are in love with YOUNITE, you will be also fall in love with YOUNITE too. Don’t forget to answer your phone, YOUNITE will call you! Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “I wanna sing Just wanna sing In front of many people But sometimes, only for you too I wanna be happy Without worrying about How much this song can be loved” - ‘I Just Wanna Sing’ by EunSang “I stay in here Even when everything changes, I’m here I’ll stay in here Fill my heart with those words Beside your heart you gave me I’ll become a tender shade I’ll stay with you I’ll stay in here” - ‘Stay In Here’ by EunSang EunSang’s words express a lot about always working hard and never giving up. EunSang is in his new family now, but I still love his story and journey. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or other from your favorite group or bias? The V Live “[속보] YOUNITE 중대발표” is a precious moment. When the fandom name was revealed, it was a cute moment to watch.
What are the things you are looking for in their future activities? I really want to see more of them being like a family, having fun and memorizing moments. Since your favorite artist is also acting, can you recommend dramas starring them for new fans? “Part-Time Mello” was EunSang’s first main role. EunSang’s role as HaWoon makes him learn a lot and is a precious memories to fans. In Sol & Pub, he had to work hard everyday but he was also working hard for love too haha. It was good to see EunSang living new experiences. Do you have an all-time favorite scene? Can you describe it or share a video? [‘Part-Time Mello’ EP2] Certainly, the first HaWoon appearance can’t be forgotten. Our cute and funny golden retriver appeared in a serious moment just to deliver chicken. It is cute seeing EunSang face in that moment. What genre do you want them to appear in? What’s the reason? EunSang said that he wanted to act in an action film/drama. I believe that EunSang can do that well. I’ll wait to see more about of EunSang as an actor! What are the actors you would like them to act with? What’s the reason? EunSang already worked with Kim MinKyu and SF9’s DaWon, that I liked a lot. I think it would be good to see him act with his hyung Kim WooSeok, who is someone that EunSang loves so much and is a good actor too. If they are given the oportunity, they will work hard together. In addition, Yoon SeoBin is one of my favorite actors, and I know that EunSang met him in “PRODUCE X 101”. It would be cool see them together again, but now like actors. Are there any words from the members or any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share? “Let’s be together for a long time.” - EunSang “You guys are so nice for moving towards your goals despite your worries and i hope these goals are expected to get even bigger and happen. I’m supporting you. I think your goal will one day be closer to you until it comes true, let’s work hard.” - EunSang What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life? EunSang is a constant motivator of happiness. Together with YOUNITE he inspires me to keep working hard to achieve my goals. Thanks to EunSang, I met people and lived special memories. Working every day to inform everybody about Eunsang and YOUNITE, my English skills have improved and I have so much to thank them for. Funny addition: Because of EunSang I’m a big fan of mint-choco today haha. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Maybe it is seeing them smile everyday and achieve their goals. Just a smile by them can better my day. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)? EunSang always work hard. But I still see comments that he didn’t deserve debut with X1 and sometimes, they use the “PRODUCE” manipulation as an argument to hate him. EunSang always did his best and never stopped smile. EunSang or any “PRODUCE” member don’t deserve hate messages because of the problems that they didn’t cause. I just wanna EunSang to be happy and loved because this is what he always made me feel. Mariana’s message to EunSang and YOUNITE:
