There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Cleo is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the US and is a fan of NMIXX. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? I am Cleo. I am from America. How and when did you enter the fandom? I entered the fandom in July of 2021. I saw their debut announcement on my timeline and I was interested because Lily M of K-Pop star had a high chance of being in the group. What are the reasons why this rookie group is your favorite group? NMIXX is my favorite group because they are the most talented group of girls I’ve ever seen in K-Pop. Their outstanding visuals don’t shine over their unbelievable talent. What do you think differentiates this rookie group from the others? What makes NMIXX different from other groups is that they don’t follow the trends at all. They don’t make typical girl crush or cute music, they sing all of their stages live with amazing vocals, and they can all pass as main vocalists and main dancers. For the readers who are completely new to the group and members, can you introduce them with your own words? NMIXX is a group of young girls that debuted with their single album “AD MARE” under JYP Entertainment. Who caught your attention at first and why? Did you know any members prior to their debut? NMIXX had a pre-debut project called “JYPn” which displayed their talents through qualifying videos with singing & dancing. JinNi caught my attention the second JYPn dropped their first qualifying video. Her charisma, husky voice, and live vocals caught my attention. What do you particularly like in this debut title track? Do you have a favorite B-side? I love how ‘O.O’ displays the different sides of NMIXX, and it’s not even the beginning of it. I think ‘TANK’ is the best K-Pop B-side I’ve heard in a while. With the catchy chorus to Lily’s famous bridge, ‘TANK’ is my favorite b-side from NMIXX! Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or other from your favorite group or bias? I recommend watching NMIXX’s Street WO.O Fighter VLIVE. In the live, NMIXX displayed their talents in a dance battle inspired by the viral Korean TV show, “Street Woman Fighter”. You can see each member easily freestyle to various songs!
What are the things you are looking for in their future activities? I look forward to NMIXX holding concerts. With the members full of energy and live spirit, I think seeing them in person would be one of the best things that would ever happen to me! Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why. I would love to see NMIXX on “Knowing Bros”. The girls have a lot of energy so I feel like their vibe fits the show. Can you describe your bias in only one word? If I could describe JinNi in one word, it would be “perfection”. Do you have a dream subunit/unit? (It can be with a fellow member or another K-Pop idol). If I wanted a subunit from NMIXX, It would probably be HaeWon, JinNi, and SullYoon.
