With a unique story of the Special Crisis Management Team of the Underworld who strive to prevent humans from committing suicide and a human who falls into a coma trying to do the same, a refreshing dynamic is expected to arouse the interest of viewers. Choi JunWoong has all the qualifications to succeed in life but it is hard for him to find a job. However, it seems like the universe has other plans for him because when he arrives at a bridge out of despair one day, he finds someone trying to jump over and ends up falling into a coma trying to save him. As such, his spirit leaves his body and turns up as a member of the Special Crisis Management Team of the Underworld. That’s one way to get a job that we do not recommend! Gu Ryeon is feisty and stylish, a perfect diva. Her red eyeshadow and black nail polish are characteristic of her look but she looks incredible no matter what she wears. She’s fit and has a playful relationship with JunWoong. She is also the leader of the Special Crisis Management Team. Choi JoongGil is the tsundere of the drama, with a cold-hearted exterior who secretly cares for those around him. He also has an interesting past that will reveal why he has developed such an indifferent attitude. Choi JoongGil is the team leader of the Humanitarian Management Team of the Underworld and is immensely charismatic but his personality constantly clashes with Gu Ryeon because of their differing opinions on people who resort to extreme measures such as suicide.
Choi JunWoong is a warm character with a heart of gold. However, presumably due to karmic debt from his past life, he’s unable to succeed in this life. He’s constantly compared to his sisters, who are tangibly more successful and suffers from internalized trauma that has affected his personality in a huge way. RoWoon has the perfect nuance to bring such a complex and multidimensional character to life. The empathy he can portray, as we have seen from his previous projects, would be key to delivering the driving principles of this character. On the other hand, RoWoon has a playful, innocent, and talkative side to him that is quite similar to his character’s! RoWoon and Choi JunWoong are a match made in K-Drama heaven!
Kim HeeSun is easily one of the most badass, sassy, and powerful women in the Korean entertainment industry. There’s no role that she cannot perfectly pull off. It will be a treat to see her in a “goth chic” look as she effortlessly drives the reins of the Underworld. We cannot wait to see Kim HeeSun perfectly deliver some of the smoothest action sequences while also making our hearts ache with her back story.
Besides having a striking similarity to his character Choi JoongGil in terms of visuals, Lee SooHyuk also shares his undeniable and fatal charm. He has an aura of authority and a regal air around him that is perfect for this role. In addition, his eyes have the innate ability to express a depth of emotion that is hard to come by. He is equipped with just the right artistic faculties to portray the dark and light aspects of Choi JoongGil. There couldn’t have been a better and more perfectly suited actor for the role of Choi JoongGil than Lee SooHyuk. If you’re interested in the webtoon, you can read it in Korean here.
