Perhaps the most complex characters to play are psychopathic characters. The actors have to dwell themselves into the dark persona and be a part of brutal and gruesome scenes. As hard as it is, we have prime examples of the actors that nailed such roles. Their smiles gave us the creeps and their laughter sent shivers down our spine. Nonetheless, they still managed to make us fall for them. Kpopmap has collected the top 4 male actors who nailed the role of a psychopath. Keep scrolling to learn their names and the characters they played! This article contains spoilers for the dramas mentioned below.
1. Kim YoungKwang As Seong YunO In “Somebody”
Who could have imagined that the adorable actor, from “Hello, Me!” and “The Secret Life Of My Secretary”, could be seen as a deadly serial killer. “Somebody” stars Kim YoungKwang as Seong YunO. A vicious serial killer who uses an app ‘Somebody’ to find his victims. YunO has been a mystery since the beginning. He is a tall young man who usually wears a flannel shirt. His outlook does not scream bad boy, but once you get close, there is no turning back. He would take out the girls on a dreamy date, but that would become their last. Whilst YoungKwang has caused butterflies in our stomachs with his laughter, “Somebody”’s Seong YunO kills them all.
2. Wi HaJun As DoShik In “Midnight”
The story of “Midnight” follows the concept of a cat and mouse chase. KyungMi (played by Jin KiJoo) is a sign language counselor at a call center, being deaf herself. One night she stumbles upon a crime scene only to be trapped in the wrath of a serial killer, DoShik (played by Wi HaJun). To eradicate any clues left of his murders, DoShik must eliminate KyungMi. So begins the chase for KyungMi’s life. DoShik is a vicious serial killer, who lures his prey in many forms and very much secretly. He is incredibly sly and manipulative, seeing how he can quickly shift his facial expressions and convince others to be anything but the vicious being that he is. Oh and he runs really fast. What makes the character more interesting is the mystery. Though we get a glimpse of other character’s lives, we know very little about DoShik. There was very little told about his past life, except a few hints in his dialogues, but those were not clear. As deadly as he is, one could not miss the chemistry between the leads and as wrong as it was, the viewers did ship both of them.
3. Ok TaecYeon As JunWoo In “Vincenzo”
Ok TaecYeon proves his duality in this drama and we loved it! Jang JunWoo is first introduced as an adorable naïve intern lawyer. He has studied in the states and would often talk in both Korean and English. JunWoo would assist Hong ChaYoung (Jeon YeoBeen) with her cases and also when she would be going the wrong way. He would follow her around like a little puppy. But the drama took a dramatic turn in episode 4 when it was revealed that JunWoo was the actual CEO and the mastermind. At a young age, he was diagnosed to be a psychopath. He is extremely ambitious about his goals and would do anything to get his way. Even if it meant to kill the other person.
